Dermatology
The skin is the largest organ in our body, which reflects all the processes of our body.
There are currently two branches of medicine dedicated to the treatment and maintenance of skin health. This is dermatology and cosmetology.
Dermatology is a branch of medicine that studies the structure, functioning and diseases of the skin and its appendages – hair, nails, as well as mucous membranes, methods of their prevention and treatment.
Cosmetology is a science that studies the nature and causes of aesthetic defects and develops ways to correct them. This branch of medicine solves aesthetic defects using a variety of cosmetics, massages, injections and other physical factors affecting the body (laser cosmetology, phototherapy, electric currents).
The choice of one or another method of correcting deficiencies depends on the result that the patient wants to see.
A dermatologist is engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases (psoriasis, alopecia, severe acne, rashes, eczema, allergic reactions, etc.).
The cosmetologist deals with the correction of aesthetic problems, which are not diseases, and skin care at different age periods: maintaining the pH balance of the skin, eliminating wrinkles, as well as pigmentation, and more.
A specialist who solves healthy skin problems and deals with skin diseases is called a dermatologist-cosmetologist.
All dermatological procedures require preliminary skin analysis, anamnesis and preparation for treatment.
