При ринопластике разрез выполняется либо только изнутри носа - закрытая ринопластика, либо два внутренних разреза соединяются между собой в кожной части носовой перегородки - открытая ринопластика. Проводится отслойка кожи от подлежащих костной и хрящевой ткани. В соответствии с задачами операции выполняется пластика костно-хрящевого каркаса и укладка кожи на новый остов. Операция завершается установкой тампонов и наложением специальной повязки-наклейки. Рубчики остаются незаметными как при закрытой ринопластике, так и при открытой ринопластике.
В конце операции на нос накладывается гипсовая наклейка, которая снимается через 5 - 14 дней. В большинстве случаев, в носовых ходах устанавливаются тампоны, которые удаляются на 2-3 сутки после операции. Так же после операции возможно появление синяков и отеков под глазами, которые, как правило, проходят к моменту снятия гипсовой наклейки. Первые несколько месяцев могут отмечаться снижение чувствительности кожи носа и верхней губы, затем она восстанавливается самостоятельно.
Процессы формирования и перестройки тканей, как правило, длятся до года после ринопластики. Поэтому принято считать, что окончательный результат операции можно оценить не ранее этого времени.
В редких случаях из-за отеков после операции в носе появляются затруднение и проблемы с дыханием, которые обычно исчезают в течение 3 месяцев.
